Veronica Ruiz de Velasco was inspired by work of some of the greatest artist such as Cezanne, Michelangelo, and others. She has also received the honor of having the great Claude Monet, purchase her painting “Dancer.”

 

Veronica Ruiz de Velasco was born in Mexico D.F in 1986. She was a neo-figurative painter of Mexico. Velasco was the 15th child of 18 brothers and sisters. She wasn’t just a painter but she also modeled. At the age of 16 she attempted a modeling career and was featured in several magazines, including Vogue.

 

Her first painting was painted 1n 1982. The name of it was “First Painting.” In 1983 she was accepted to take art courses at La Escuela Nacional de Belles Artes La Esmeralda. In 1984 the curator of the gallery of Lourdes Chumacero in Mexico exhibited her work. In 1985, Ruffino Tamayo, a well known artist, asked Ruiz de Velasco to come to his studio to take private lessons. Tamayo commented that Ruiz de Velasco’s art had “an excellent color.” Just from that statement Ruiz’s work was then exhibited in many art shows and it gave her a good name.

 

In 1986 she held an individual exhibition in the gallery of the Benito Juarez International Airport in Mexico City. 1n 1987 she was the youngest artist to exhibit at the Museo de Arte Moderno (national Museum of Modern Art) in Mexico. She then met her husband in 1995 where they moved back to her home town.

 

In 2009Veronica was one of five Mexican artist selected to create a painting representing Mexico at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

 

Veronica is well known for all of her art work. She is well recognized and appreciated by many people. She will be known for many more years to come
